Original experimental indie rock may be hard to come by these days, but Cleveland act Mystery of Two does a great job of channeling influences (Pere Ubu, Talking Heads and fIREHOSE) in its bang-up debut, "Arrows Are All You Know." The marrow of the 10-track album is its off-kilter rhythms, insidious melodies and coarse vocals. Singer-guitarist Ryan Weitzel, who on occasion strays near a Tom Waits timbre, provides the last. Something this trio uses to its advantage is the unexpected guitar jam, which momentarily supplants the mesmerizing jangly chords for a darker expression. This is the case on the gritty "Pitfalls" and up-tempo "Quick." . . . this first effort can be considered a bull's-eye. - Jim Gill ( The Cleveland Plain Dealer)
